Step-by-Step Guide:
1. Lay out a plastic sheet to protect the work surface. Make sure the silicone mould is clean and all materials are within reach. Don’t forget to wear disposable gloves and follow the safety instructions.
2. Mix the epoxy resin following the 100:60 (by weight) mixing ratio, e.g., 50 g of A and 30 g of B. Weigh and mix both components thoroughly for 3 minutes, making sure that all sides and bottom of the mixing container are included for effective mixing. Let the mixture sit for 2-3 minutes.
3. Divide the mixed resin into separate containers for each colour you plan to use. Add the powdered pigments to each container to achieve the desired shades – mix thoroughly.
4. Carefully pour the coloured resin into the silicone mould, filling each letter to the desired height. Use different colours for each letter, creating a playful and colourful effect.
5. To remove air bubbles, gently tap the mould on the countertop or use a small gas torch to gently wipe the surface. This helps the bubbles rise to the top and burst.
6. Allow the resin to harden for 24 hours. Once it has fully hardened, carefully demould the letters of the alphabet from the silicone mould. If you’re making jewellery, you can drill holes in the letters to attach rings or clasps, allowing you to wear them.
